The Project Management Standards are presented in " A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) - Third Edition", which is the basis of the testing portion of PMI's certification program. All classes are from 8:00 AM to 5:15 PM, and will be held at the University of South Carolina (USC), Aiken. Each participant will receive a binder containing course material, PMBOK, Third Edition and other test review materials. Cost of the course will be $595 payable to USC, Aiken.
The Project Management Institute (PMI®) sponsors the project management certification program. The purpose and goal of this program is the development, maintenance, evaluation, promotion and administration of a rigorous, examination-based, professional certification program of the highest caliber. In 1999, PMI’s Certification Program Department became the first professional certification program department in the world to attain ISO 9001 recognition. The Project Management Professional (PMP®) Program supports the international community of project management professionals and is designed to objectively assess and measure professional knowledge. PMP Program requirements and eligibility standards are applied fairly, impartially and consistent with applicable laws.
To achieve PMP certification, each candidate must satisfy all educational and experiential requirements established by PMI before qualifying to take the PMP test. The PMP candidate must demonstrate an acceptable and valid level of understanding and knowledge about project management by then passing he Project Management Professional Certification Examination. To maintain certification, those who have been granted the PMP credential (certificates) must demonstrate ongoing professional commitment to the field of project management by satisfying Professional Development Program requirements.
